Judge Roger C. Plichta was former appointed State Court Magistrate Judge. Judge Plichta founded the firm in 1977 and turned over management and ownership of the firm to Romin Vincent Alavi in early 2008.

Roger C. Plichta –

(former appointed Magistrate Judge.)

  • Admitted to State Bar of Georgia and Washington, D.C. Bar & U.S. Supreme Court
  • Earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science
  • Earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration
  • Awarded a Juris Doctorate of Law in Georgia (with honors)
  • Completed his graduate studies and Thesis as Assistant to the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service
  • During Vietnam, President Lyndon B. Johnson, personally granted Mr. Plichta a direct Presidential Military Commission as a Lieutenant in the United States Army.
  • Lieutenant Plichta was promoted to Captain and served in the capacity as both an Aide-de-Camp and Administrative Assistant to General R.L. Atteberry, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Europe. Later he practiced law with the United States Attorney.
  • Mr. Plichta holds membership in the Honorary Military Commanders’ Association. He is a commissioned Kentucky Colonel and was presented with THE GRAND MERIT OF SERVICE DECORATION, one of the highest and most distinguished honors by The Countess of the House of Trabzon, Lady Faith Churchill Guest, formerly of Great Britain and International and Georgia Bar Associations, Atlanta Lawyers Club, and International Rotary.
  • Mr. Plichta enjoys being a legal consultant to radio and television networks having made numerous guest appearances on PM Magazine, WSB Radio and Television, NBC 11 ALIVE NEWS, and The Today Show with Katie Couric.

Romin Vincent Alavi

  • Romin Vincent Alavi practices criminal defense throughout Metropolitan Atlanta and the entire State of Georgia, providing detailed, personal attention to each matter.
  • Admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, including all Superior, State, Probate and Magistrate Courts, The Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals. Mr. Alavi is also admitted to practice in the Northern District of Georgia and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
  • Mr. Alavi interned at the United States Attorney’s Office, Atlanta Division, where he worked with the “Strike Force” prosecution team, specializing in RICO (Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organization) prosecutions.
  • Mr. Alavi later worked for the Georgia Attorney General, Capital Litigation division, working exclusively on Capital Litigation matters.
  • Mr. Alavi now provides high quality legal representation throughout the State of Georgia. Emily G. Gilbert

  • Emily Gilbert is an experienced criminal defense attorney practicing in metropolitan Atlanta and throughout Georgia.
  • Ms. Gilbert began her career as a staff attorney with the DeKalb County Public Defender's Office and gained extensive trial experience with both
    misdemeanors and felonies.
  • Admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, The Court of Appeals of Georgia and the Supreme Court of Georgia and a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
  • While a law student, Ms. Gilbert interned with the Georgia Justice Project and the Georgia Innocence Project.  Additionally, she was an active member of the Public Interest Law Association and chaired the 2002 PILA auction which raised over $15,000 to fund fellowships for law students interested in pursuing public interest careers.
  • Ms. Gilbert was acknowledged for her dedication and advocacy in 2005 by the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division with the Commitment to Justice Award.
