Georgia Sex Offenses

Sex Offenses and Crimes

  1. What can I expect of the defense in this type of case?
  2. Wow, this sounds very complicated; is it expensive?
  3. But how do I know that you can help me?

Conviction of a sex crime – which may include rape, date rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, indecent exposure, public sexual indecency, solicitation, prostitution, pornography, child pornography and internet pornography – can mean mandatory and often substantial prison time and registration as a sex offender for the rest of your life.

Sex crimes are afforded a very high priority at Plichta, Alavi & Associates, P.C.  We pay very careful attention to all aspects of the State's accusation because of the severity of the offence involved and the high probability that jail time would be given to any person convicted of these offenses.  Sex crimes include all criminal allegations of improper contact with another person (or, in some limited case, acts which involve the defendant by himself).  In Georgia, sex crimes may result in severely harsh punishments for which there is little or no hope for parole.  For this reason we take these cases extremely seriously and work diligently to assemble the strongest possible defense.

1.  What can I expect of the defense in this type of case?     (back to top)

Cases involving allegations of sex crimes are among the most complicated cases to defend.  Often these cases require the defense to employ expert witnesses or persons who have a special understanding of the particular facts or circumstances.  Furthermore, these cases also require enormous amounts of time to track down witnesses, investigate physical evidence, analyze any medical evidence, consider possible defenses and talk with all of the parties who may shed light on any of the facts in the case.  When applicable, we also conduct extensive investigations into the backgrounds and histories of all persons, including any alleged victims, who are part of the case.  When it comes time for your court date, we will prepare relevant motions.  We may also direct our client to do many things outside of the courtroom to help us prepare an appropriate defense.

2.  Wow, this sounds very complicated; is it expensive?     (back to top)

Typically a sex crimes allegation is among the most expensive cases to defend properly.  Of course, the level of defense may be limited if the resources we have to draw upon are limited.  We would prefer to be in a position to provide the strongest defense possible in every case.  For that reason, we will typically take only those cases that can guarantee enough resources to defend the case properly.  We will meet with you to discuss the options and potential costs of your case in great detail and will do everything possible to structure the costs of your case in such a way that you may still be able to afford the best defense possible.

3.  But how do I know that you can help me?      (back to top)

Our great defense team has a strong history of successfully defending those unjustly charged with sex crimes.  We have represented everyone from students to teachers to politicians to professional athletes in defending these types of allegations.  We have years of experience in every metropolitan county defending this type of case.  We also employ a defense team including experts such as doctors, scientists, and former law enforcement officers, all with specialized knowledge and training to assist us in defending our clients.  If you have been falsely accused of one of these crimes, we will work ceaselessly to find a way to prove this to the prosecutors, the judge, or to the jury.
